Days ahead without Sunil (my manager)

Sunil was suppose to be discharged from his duties and responsibilities as Marketing Manager siliconindia.com today ie 22nd dec 09, we had planned a small surprise for him. But to our utter shock, we were told by lunch time,"today is his last day in office"ie 21 dec 09. We were not prepared for it, his gift was at my colleagues place close to office.

First we did was to compose ourselves and make arrangements to get the gift, without letting him know about it. We had lunch as early as possible to leave office before he drops in post lunch-break. By the time we were back he was at his desk, trying to wind up left over work. Cautiously I hid the gift in my helmet avoid his attention. He was suppose to leave by 4 pm.

By 3 pm all of us gathered at his desk to handover his farewell gift, a wrist watch along with a card. He was delighted to receive it from our end and promised a team lunch some time this week. Wished all of us gosdluck for future but for me, abhra & jaya he had something else to be said." All 3 of us should get married at the earliest and invite him for the same".

Post exchange of gift, I was too sad on the verge of an emotional break down. Reason for it was that I started my career under him, it has been two and half years since we were together. Just to make me comfortable he was cracking jokes to make the atmosphere cool. When I was about to leave for the day he told not to cry on reaching home. Didn't assured him anything and left the place.

Their has been a turn around since I joined office, all those who had joined before ma had left the firm. New face have taken their place but its not easy to be comfortable with them.

Today it was too difficult to be at my desk without Sunil next to me, a habit of 30 months. Initially it was bit difficult but as the hours are passing by am coming to terms with reality. Seems like things have changed a lot from yesterday till today. Now I need to move forward all my self without any support from any one.

My manager's resignation

People would love to hate their managers than admiring them or learning expertise under his supervision. This was my notion much before I joined office, all my friends used to tell tales of their managers at respective workplaces. They are devils who would love to screw your happiness at any given point of time.

Things are not the same for every one, my manager was entirely different from others. Till date he has never scolded me an achievement in itself. When ever mistakes occurred, he was more prone to know about the cause than shouting and hauling. Nobody commits mistakes intentionally, as none like scolding. At times when matter used to be serious he used conference room to discuss the problem, amicable way of dealing issues.

When at work he was my manager other time we were more of friends. He never tolerated any compromise in work related issues. Always motivated us to move forward in career, forced team members to use their grey matter present in brain. Had always given space for creativity and new ideas to throng in. That could be one of the reason why I have achieved success at a short span of time.

Like any other day I was busy with my work when Sunil informed us about his resignation, we thought he was kidding, as cracking jokes is a part of his life. But when his resignation letter was before us, we realized the seriousness of matter. It was a big shock to us, still trying to recover from it. We even requested him to reconsider his decision but he was head strong.

Don't know what future holds for me but am proud to start my career under him, have learned a lot from him, especially people management skills. Will miss him for sure and if given an opportunity to work under him again their is no second thought to it.

Hope more employees find managers like to work with...

A day without AC in office

May the impact of global warming the climatic conditions has changed drastically around the world. Bangalore was know as air conditioned city few years ago but now people can't people without AC during day time. Morning n evening time is pretty cool usually in comparison to afternoon. Most offices in bangalore are have centralized AC to maintain normal temperature due to the presence of glass chambers in office, which absorb more heat.

Yesterday when I turned of our zones AC found it was not functioning, as it was not responding to remote. Immediately informed our office guy about it, he in turn called up mechanic to fix up the problem. After reviewing AC it was discovered problem was bit major, will take a day or two for rectification. Me and manager were thinking of the days ahead with AC.

Though fans were there to cool to the temperature but by afternoon started feeling like fever was not able to concentrate on work even. By evening it became unbearable for me to sit in office and left for home early as has developed severe headache by then. Don't have AC in my house but can survive there not in workplace. Seems like its because of the temperament one has towards things.Night it was pretty cold so didn't even turn on the fan even.

Mechanics were suppose to drop in today but they didn't turn up. I was prepared for it so am not feeling uncomfortable today as it was yesterday. My manager is one person who can't survive without AC in office, even if its raining or has snowfall outside. The moment he comes to office first thing done by him is to adjust the temperature of AC. If we complain he tells us either to shift our seat or bring woolens to office, left with no other option sit in cool temperature.

We should try to avoid these things once in a blue moon to test our ability to survive without them. Don't you feel the same..

Hectic monday post weekends

Holidays are always fun be it small vacation or weekends. This is the only time when you are able to pay bit attention to oneself. First weekends of the months are bit tiring as one to shop all house hold stuff for the month. Some of us even has to go out to pay electricity bills more tiring job. All these activities are usually conducted at day time to enjoy night out with friends.

This weekend was bit hectic for me, had appointment with doctor for routine check up Saturday evening. Morning was with my cousins (followed by a small nap in afternoon), though we stay next to each other but can catch up only on weekends. Post consultation went for window shopping, but did get all things which I was in need of. Climate was getting cold and had to take dinner even so left the shopping mall for home.

On way back had dinner from my favorite restaurant this time all alone as all my friends were busy. Reached home and glued before the idiot box till 12 am, to wake up by 8 am on sunday with full drowsiness in eyes. Somehow had breakfast then was again to bed but slept till 12 pm , prepared lunch again was on bed till 4pm. As night approached started planning for next weekend.

Biggest challenge on monday is the sleep syndrome after effect of afternoon naps. Mondays are hectic because of compilation of two days, once you adore your chair all enjoyment vanish into thin air by the hard facts before ones eyes.

Whatever it is holidays are always fun and people look forward to it..

What happened in my last birth? Raaz pichhle janam ka

NDTV imagine has come out with a new reality show "Raaz pichhle janam ka " secret of your past life. Here participants will go in their past life and know the cause of any problem which is tormenting their present day life. Entire process seems to be bit risky but is conduced under the supervision of a doctor.

Couldn't believe my eyes when saw participants going to their past life and coming back safe, but can't imagine the trauma which they would have undergone during the process. Somewhere feel like a person privacy is at stake. Don't know about our past life deeds if things are good fine but we had bad experience or action our present life my also be effected by it. We are sharing our life in front of the world.

Channel is minting money at the behest of innocent people. People get instant publicity by participating in such shows make be for a day or 2 but in the long run it doesn't help. Given an opportunity even I may be a part of reality but not at the stake of my privacy and family.

It is often said we shouldn't dig the debris as don't know what it folds in self? Same is the case with this show participants are not aware of what would unfold to them.

Buying pain with money

Who doesn't want a good body which would come people to turn around once? To acquire it people adopt various ways to suit their needs like dieting, hitting gym, yoga to name a few. Often going on diet is the primary step adopted by most of us as it is easy and doesn't cost much. Nobody wants to get out of their comfort zone but want to achieve results.

My work requires me to sit in front of system for a longer period of time. Of-late I started putting on weight evident from my small tummy which was at the verge of inception. Putting T-shirts with tummy didn't go well with me, immediately decided upon reducing weight before its too late. Started dieting gave up outside food, less oil in food preparation, less food but no respite.

Finally decided to hit gym at last resort had it in past even so was confident about the outcome. First 3 days were hell, full body was on ache couldn't even sleep well, but in hope of getting good physique beard it with full courage. Result was visible in 3 months because don't strain myself to the core because of back ache. Then hitting gym became a part of my life, couldn't do without it. Befriended few people in gym who guided me to in achieving my target.

But hitting gym after vacations were very painful, had to motivate myself a lot to do so. Often used to think why am I paying money for this pain. Daily while doing exercise also one has to bear pain when weights are increased, seems like their is no strength left in body.Have heard people screaming in pain when they try to lift weight beyond their capacity.

But this pain has a hidden pleasure engulfed in it, that's the reason why people go for it. Best way to motivate oneself is imagination. Won't you try once.

Wonderful shopping experience @ Total madivala

Shopping is a pain but can't do without it, every month need to go for buying household commodities. People throng malls like anything during weekends to buy things for the next one week or month together.Visiting malls are convenient because everything is available at one place. Quality of the products could be relied upon blind folded.

Like every month went to Total @ madivala, first floor had undergone renovation so was bit difficult to locate things initially. Luckily they didn't do much renovation in customer durable section it was the same. While getting things it strike me to get drainex to unblock kitchen sink. Not being able to find it in self took help from one of the sales guy their "reply was if its not in shelf then we don't have it". I was bit disappointed as its need was urgent for me.

A lady may be the floor supervisor saw my interaction with the sales person and asked what was I looking for? Told her want drainex she asked me to wait for 2 min and went to check it herself with the sales guy standing there. When she came back had drainex in her hand and even guided to the shelf where it was stocked. Felt too happy at the gesture of that lady, who was discharging her duties and responsibilities to the fullest. As moved forward found her reviewing each and every section of the corner to facilitate people who needed help.

Had been shopping their for quite sometime now but this was my most memorable experience where I got a taste of what being cared for was?
