Trauma post terror attacks

Today its first anniversary of 26/11. Lot has been done by media to encash the feeling of people like publicizing articles, documentary, sms campaign to name a few. Special prier meeting is being conducted for those who laid their life in fight against terrorism. I feel we have somewhere forgotten those who were eyewitness or suffers of this incident.

While reading the latest issue of "The Week" came to know that still people are come to term post completion of an year of the incident. Still few are in hospitals undergoing surgery after surgery to get them back. Monetary help received by them was less in comparison to what they have born till and in future.

I remember the incident of Mr. Ransley Senthumayor (29), who is still in hospital with the sole hope of being able to stand on his feet one day. He received monetary compensation of Rs 1.5 lack but till now his total expenditure in hospital has been close to 6 lakh, that's not the end. If he want to stand on his feet then need to under go few more surgeries till date 7 has already been performed on him.

There would be few more like him , who may not even have the money to treat them or may use it to feed their family. These are the people who need to get attention and support from masses and media. But nobody thinks about them as they can't mint money others like others. Can anyone tell me has humanity been degraded to such an extend today that we only care for money and not for human feeling and sufferings.

Isn't it our duty and responsibility to something for those people who have been left alone to fight the trauma of terror?

After effects of rain on bikers

This year monsoon was poor in all parts of India. Bangalore was no better. Water problem has been a major cause of concern for most of us. Bore wells dried up and people had to depend on tankers for carrying out basic activities.

God was kind enough to bless people with rain showers but timing was wrong. It mostly rained by 6 pm when people leave office and traffic is on high peak. Due to rain bikers like me take shelter in any building only cars and buses can ply the road. Once rain stop bikes throng road like anything leading to big traffic blockade.

Then people start saying why did it rain?I always pray that it should rain post 7pm when am at home. Biggest problem is my clothes & shoes get spoiled up, which I hate to the core. Reaching home takes longer duration than usual ie an hour or more from 45 mins. If it rains of Friday then no problem as saturday is holiday. But on normal normal week days its unbearable.

Yesterday it started raining by 4.30pm and stopped by 5.30 I was happy thinking their won't traffic on road , but to my utter despair it was huge traffic on road courtesy a truck , which broke down in the middle of the road. Don't know why can't wait to reach home once clock strikes 6pm in office. If anyone finds me in office post 6pm they are shocked including my manager. If I am late sometime, he reminds me to go home. But when it starts raining he is very happy as I can't get out of office till the rain stops but he leaves on time in his car.

Whatever it is rain is good for the nation and the masses, hope it rains more and farmers get good crops.

Joy of buying gifts to loved ones

After a long wait my sister managed came to be with me for a week. Luckily she came on Saturday so we had ample to spend together. We both are staying in same city hardly 10 km from each other but even then can't meet every week because of our commitments. Even If I go to meet her can't stay for more than an hour hostel rule you see.

Due to some function in her college we were able to spent some time together, as she is not participating in any of the event because of her ill health. First we did after coming out of her hostel was to go for shopping. She is going home next month , wanted to sent some gift for dad. Once we were in shop I felt like buying some things for her even. When I asked her to select few things for her she said no, because already bill was high. Ignoring the rising bill I bought few things for her. When reached the billing counter didn't know what but I was feeling to happy. Usually experience it when I shop something for my family members.

When I shop things for my self hardly I get this feeling. Though my basic agenda is to save money but at such moment saving doesn't strike me. It strike me once I receive my credit card bill at the end of the month.

But now I can realize how our parents would have felt when they fulfilled our wishes and desires. Couple of time they have sacrificed their happiness to see smile on our faces. Even now when I go home dad gets all those things which I love to have and mom prepares most delicious food. When we go out they don't allow me to bear expenses saying you save your money but some how my conscious doesn't allow me to do so. Finally payments are done by me.

A unique experience of shopping try it out...

Agony of comman man

It has been long since I posted blog time but from now on, have decided to post blog regularly. Life was messy these days forcing me to concentrate fully on myself. My mom did gift me a bike during my graduation days on my birthday. With passing year it had become old but I didn't feel like buying a new one because my attachment to it. But unfortunately I my bike got stolen 2 weeks ago from my house. Was too sad and didn't knew what to do?

First thing I had to do was to file an F.I.R regarding loss of bike. I went to police station with my elder brother to file the complain but to our utter despair, police personnel were not ready to pay deed to our words. They asked us to come in evening as it was too early to file complain, if they may recover the bike then it would be difficult for us to claim it. We went to police station in evening but again their casual approach forced us to leave the place. Seems like police force has forgotten that" F.I.R needs to filed with in 24 hours post occurrence of an incident" .

Next day again I went to police station, this time all alone as my brother was not free. The Inspector started questioning me not regarding my bike but about my profession, my income, family background. Was pretty shocked at his attitude but had to get my work done so has to bear him. When he came to know that I work for media house, a seriousness surrounded him. Inquired more about my company and job profile. The end result of this inquiry was come tomorrow. " A tomorrow which never comes".

I was fed of my frequent visit to police station, finally my brother told me, if they don't file complain today ie 4 days after the incident we will approach higher authority or press media. But before we could use our influence in society they handed us the copy of F.I.R. May they had foreseen their future.

While coming back from police station was wondering ,if I had to struggle so much to get a complain filed, what would be the plight of ordinary man? If educated people have of suffer so much, god only knows what will happen to illiterate people? My visits to police station had some where given a feeling in myself that I had committed some sin. I was their just to perform my duty as a law abiding citizen. But was shocked to see that law protectors has forgotten law. Who needs to be responsible for it?

Recession weapon for employer or curse to employees?

Recession has armed companies to reframe company policies to suit them the best, be it big companies or small firms. All have joined the brigade to torture the employees.

First axe is on their pay package “ no hike till market regain its old glory but their job responsibility has been hiked, as the salary which companies are paying to employees has suddenly become too much to be borne by them”. If employees want to don’t want to under go salary cut its better they take up more responsibility, if not move out. Though the decision is left to employees but they don’t have much say in it.

Second axe on leaves “According to government rules pvt firms are suppose to give 20 leave to their employees annually”. Companies know employees won’t raise voice to any injustice done to them during recession so they have reduced the number of leaves of employees to 10 in a year. They have even axed public holiday challenging the decision of government. Seems like have the law of land for granted.

Third axe on working hours “Employees are expected to put in more hours, without any hike in salary”. Earlier standard working hours in pvt sector firms was 9 hours now has been hiked to10hrs. Even if you complete your work earlier you have warm your seat for 10 hours. In which book has it been mentioned that “spending more hours on at your desk lead to more productivity”.

Can’t understand why companies attitude has changed drastically towards their employees? Why can’t they retain the same attitude which they had towards them during boom? How can an employer expect loyalty from their employees when he himself isn’t loyal? Companies can fire anyone without prior notice but when employees look for a change they need to give notice to company… why?

Its high time companies revamp their ways, else will suffer in future because economy has started recovering, soon will be on track. That time employers shouldn’t complain about the disassociation of their employees from them…

How should raggers be dealt with..?

Ragging has become a national concern in the wake of 2 recent incidents, which rocked the nation at large. But why do people wake up only when some loses his life or an attempt to suicide is done? Why don’t people wake much before to avoid such incidents? Parents should take proactive measure to find a cure for this menace to avoid regression at later stages. Every year lakhs of student enroll themselves to various colleges for various courses, but nobody bothers to enquire about anti ragging measures in colleges. Students take it for granted, thinking will tackle it when the situation arises. But ragging is an inevitable part of the curriculum which doesn’t attract much of attention of student in comparison to other subjects.

Only few parents try to inquire about the past history of the colleges, especially in terms of incidents of ragging. Even then such incidents keep happening why? Colleges give assurance to parents at the time of admission that ragging is not permitted in their colleges and all precautionary measures have been taken into consideration to tackle with raggers. If these assurances were really trustworthy, then incidents of ragging should surface but in reality freshers are ragged by their senior’s and colleges are not aware about it, till some untoward incident occur. Reason for it is that college authority take responsibility of students only for their campus and classrooms, hostels are often overlooked by them. Incidents of ragging are reported only in hostel in comparison to any other place.

Though Supreme Court has come out with ruling to deal with raggers and the colleges supporting it, but seems like students have not taken it seriously. I feel capital punishment should be awarded to those students who indulge in ragging, it shouldn’t be treated as an attempt to death only then students will fear it and deter from it, at least thinking about the intensity of their deeds. In colleges where ragging is reported, affiliations of the college should be cancelled.

Selection of hostel warden should be done on strict criteria. In case of ragging they should also be treated as culprit in crime and be executed accordingly. Hostels for seniors and freshers should be at distance and should have adequate security for the safety of students.

All these could be few suggestions, but to get it implemented we need to stand united to fight for this cause. Parents and students need to take a lead in this regard. Each of us will have to ragging one day or other, either to us directly or to our kids indirectly.

Traffic cops mere statue of greed at government’s expenses

Yesterday while going out to meet my friends I was caught by traffic cops at a signal, It was red light then also he asked me to drive further and move towards the either end causing trouble to other commuters. Promptly asked for documents of vechile, immediately it was produced to him. As I am driving a vehicle which has not been registered in Karnataka I am always at the receiving end so I carry all the documents with me promptly every time I go out. The thing which irritated me to the core was that he was trying to create a loop hole in a document to get extract money from me. He was scrutinising the documents in such that for a second I felt he is going to some very important official document. But reality was something different he was trying to make way to warm his pocket.

I am not accusing him for doing his duty but am surprised at the way how he carrying it out at a time when Bangalore has been put on red alert in the wake of terrorist attack in Mumbai and reports suggesting sure shot attack on Bangalore. How can they behave in such a manner. It vehicle are supposed to be let all vehicles be checked but he was just trying to locate few vechiles which had other state registration number plates & bikes with young couples. Easy preys to extract money. Is this what we call checking of vehicles at a time when city is prone to terrorist attacks anytime especially on weekends, when movement of people are bit high throughout the city?

No doubt why, India is a soft target for terrorist to terrorise the people and the nation as a whole. Mumbai attack has clearly proved it that terrorists will try to conceal their identity by making them a part of the surrounding or the area where they land up. In such a situation do you think that they will ever try to use those vehicles which could easily catch attention of the cops. I don’t think they will do any such foolish act rather they would prefer to use a vehicle with local registration, which traffic cops don’t check most of the time. Even if they are caught by cops they will grease they traffic cops with money to which they are more loyal to than their uniform or their motherland.

God forbid but, if Bangalore comes under terror attacks, who would be responsible for it? Because arms and ammunition will be shifted from one location to other through roads only, where we find such greedy people, who don’t even think twice before endangering the life of innocent people who rely upon them for their safety. Don’t you feel now that government is just wasting their money and energy in maintaining a force of cops at the stake lives of innocent people. We are paying tax to government for the facilities rendered to us in terms of good roads, airports etc but unknowingly a fraction of this money is also being given to these cops who are ever ready to put our life at stake ,i.e we are contributing money towards our insecurity even.

Millon dollar question what we should do as citizens of a law abiding country to protect our interest when government is inefficient to do it in the desired way?
